My Story

Hi, I’m Tenesha, born and raised under the warm South African sun. I never imagined I’d one day swap fabric for food, but life had other plans. I’m a qualified fashion designer who moved to London in 2022, and somewhere between homesickness and curiosity, I discovered a new passion — cooking.

When I first arrived, I missed the bold, comforting flavours of home. London’s food scene is wonderfully diverse, but nothing quite captured the taste of authentic South African comfort food I grew up with. Takeaways were pricey, and my cravings were real — so I started recreating the dishes I missed most, from mom’s classic recipes to the hearty, spice-rich meals that always brought family together.

What started with a few jars of Mrs Ball’s chutney and All Gold tomato sauce soon turned into kitchen experiments, flavour hunts, and dinner parties where my friends couldn’t get enough. Their encouragement sparked an idea — maybe I could share a taste of home with others, too.

Three years later, Mzansi Flavours was born. I may not be a professional chef, but every dish I make is filled with heart, heritage, and home. My goal is simple: to bring people together through food that tells a story — one of love, family, and nostalgia.

Because for me, every bite is a trip back home — and I want you to taste that journey, too.
